Robotic inspection systems for restricted access environments
Advanced Mechanical Systems Ltd; AMS; designs and builds bespoke robotic tools and mechanical solutions for Non Destructive Testing. Our systems enable inspections inside pipework and structures where access is restricted; allowing inspection teams to reach safety critical locations while working within tight time; access and regulatory constraints.

What we do
AMS is a specialist engineering company focused on custom robotic inspection solutions; not generic off the shelf products. We design; build and support equipment that allows clients to obtain clear; repeatable inspection data from challenging environments.
Our work centres on practical mechanical platforms; crawlers; carriers and tools that integrate into existing inspection procedures and instrument setups. Clients use their preferred NDT techniques and instrumentation; we provide the robotic and mechanical hardware that makes those techniques usable in restricted access areas.

Miniaturised crawlers and carriers
We develop compact robotic platforms for internal inspection of pipes and other confined spaces; including small diameters; tight bends and complex route geometries. Our crawlers and carrier systems are designed to provide dependable traction; positioning and coverage; placing client specified probes; sensors or cameras exactly where they are needed and enabling repeat inspections over the life of an asset.

Custom tools and fixtures
Many inspection problems cannot be solved with a general purpose tool. AMS designs and manufactures bespoke insertion tools; adaptors; carriers and fixtures that hold and position client specified NDT probes; sensors and cameras. These tools are tailored to real access conditions; flange layouts; valve interfaces and pipe runs; so that established inspection methods can be applied effectively without unnecessary changes to proven techniques.

Engineering and integration
Our work covers mechanical and mechatronic design; manufacture; assembly and functional testing; with integration to existing client instruments and inspection procedures. AMS is comfortable working alongside a wide range of NDT techniques; including eddy current; eddy current array; ultrasonic; phased array; visual inspection and other sensor types where appropriate. We are not an instrument supplier; we focus on the robotic and mechanical integration that allows those instruments to be used in locations that are otherwise inaccessible.

Who we work with
We work with operators; inspection contractors; equipment manufacturers and research organisations that need reliable; tailored hardware for demanding inspection tasks. Typical projects involve safety critical systems; restricted access; tight geometries and a clear need to demonstrate inspection coverage and reliability.

Partners and investors
AMS develops and owns the intellectual property for its robotic platforms; carriers and tooling. The same underlying technologies can often be adapted across multiple inspection applications; providing a base for long term development and deployment. We are open to strategic collaborations and investment discussions that support the further development; scaling and application of these technologies in appropriate markets.
